Damselflyby ~Solkku

Taken during the summer 2005 in Svinö, outside Porvoo in Finland. These damselflies are really hard to capture with a camera, but this one was ok.

Thank you. That is a damselfly female, the male is blue.

Some of the specied that I collected, the blue was the same for both genders. I've never seen a brown one around here. I'll have to check out my entomology taxonomy textbook on that one. I'm more familiar with the lepidoptera than the other families of insects.

I think this one is called: platycnemis pennipes .. not 100% sure about that though.

Thanks... I don't think we have any brown damsels over here in the US. I'll have to check out the NPRC website's taxonomy lists.

Amazing.

However, the only critique I have - the right side should be cropped just a little more. It just seems like wasted space. But that's just a personal thing. It still a beautiful shot, regardless.
